Spam is a part of the internet, you can't escape it altogether, but you can cut it down. If you have a form on your site that emails you, you can cut down on junk messages by adding a question to your form that only a human can answer.
Whether collecting or signing up for email addresses, violating privacy, trying to crack passwords, or sending out spam to unsuspecting email recipients, spam bots are annoying us, one email at a time. The problem is that machines don't sleep, never get tired and and can work for months without a break. They will tirelessly bombard your form with links to questionable websites and names like "sdfledsdf".
